Philosophy:
Engaging and personable, Stacy Babbitt is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who provides treatment for adolescents, young adults, adults, parents, and trauma survivors. Stacy prides herself on building trusting relationship so clients are comfortable talking about their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. She understands that it can be uncomfortable to bring up difficult issues, and uses her natural warmth and a sense of humor to help you feel safe discussing painful topics. As you work together, you’ll begin to understand the patterns that may be holding you back. With Stacy’s direct and compassionate approach, you’ll make progress toward your goals and begin to feel better, more grounded, and hopeful.
Areas of Specialization:
Stacy has extensive experience in the assessment and treatment of anxiety, trauma, relationship difficulties, life transitions, depression and low self-esteem. She has expertise in treating trauma and anxiety disorders, specifically panic disorder, specific phobia and social anxiety. Stacy’s strengths lie in using cognitive behavior therapy to impact change. With a social work perspective, she takes a holistic approach to each client, incorporating personal history, environment, family and relationships in determining her method of treatment. She has received training in Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), Trauma-Focused CBT and Exposure and Response Prevention, which gives her the skills to effectively treat a wide range of issues.
Experience:
Stacy Babbitt earned a BA in Psychology at the University of Michigan and a Masters in Social Work from New York University. She trained at Mount Sinai Beth Israel and New York Presbyterian Weill Cornell. She was previously employed at the Jewish Board of Family and Children’s Services where she gained invaluable experience working with children, adolescents and adults in both a residential and outpatient setting. Her unique experience working in home-based services, residential settings and community outpatient clinics has allowed her to hone her skills treating a wide variety of mental health issues with people of varying ethnicities, races and religions.
